In the context of the nation wide development programme “Adaptation of urban spaces to climate change" of the German Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building, this run down and very busy park has been selected to be redesigned in the face of the combined effect of the intensive use by people and the urban island heat effect.

This funding enabled a very special project: a climate adaptation strategy comprising innovative measures for a climatic resilience of its vegetation and soils but also a sustainable access to irrigation water, bypassing the consumption of potable water or groundwater.
