Wind-sensitive urban design, Bremen

Typology: Urban Design, Streetscapes, Park

Master-semester Project, TU-Berlin

Planning: Summer 2020

Scale:35 ha

Each project focused on one environmental component of this site. In attention to wind-sensitive design, alongside basic landscape parameters, 4 climatic parameters determined the spatial organisation of dwellings, commercial spaces & public spaces: wind speed, wind turbulence, thermal comfort.

A more poetic dimension of the design complements the scientific one described above: two wind-immersive spots provide different climatic experiences—one sheltered by the water’s edge, the other swept by the wind—exploring the poetics of inhaling a scenic view, connected to nature's elements.

The wind study was built with the program blueCFD-Core.
